4C - Legislation and regulation (first half)

Legislation and regulation
Copyright issues that I may come across include things such as copyrighted music and images. This may be overcome by either asking for the rights to use the copyrighted music or by taking original images. copyright may also come in to play which things such as copying other companies ideas for example taking the BBC's current theme of Oneness, something recognisable to the BBC brand and where ever.
Secondly, shooting licences will need to be kept in place as a way to work on different locations with no problems, since our locations vary within each of our idents, therefore we will need to get 4 different shooting licences. For example, in a sports hall, class room, dance studio and a park. These are required because if we were to accidentally work in private land we could be sued or kicked off the site mid way through.
Health and safe is also a key factor  when talking about regulations, this is because if there is any safety issues on the set everything will have to be documented.
Another possible problem cold be at the end with technical broadcast constraints, using broadcast safe colours and the correct resolutions.

AV Script

Video (Ident 1- Media)
Opening scene - pan of a park bench, trees and sunrise to show that it is early morning

Camera pans towards and tracks with the subject walking towards a bench

Close up shot of the characters glasses case

Character them picks up the news paper

News paper looks blurry as he cannot see it properly without the glasses

Puts on the glasses and sees the Logo and other iconography relating to the college.

Video (Ident 2)
Dance choreography starts

Camera follows the beat of the dancers

Each move is exaggerated

Lights go off and dancers start dancing with fluorescent colours

Dancers form together in a circle

Next the dancers will move around the create the name of the theme

After this the dancers dispurse

Video (Ident 3)
Boy playing basketball

He then throws the ball against the wall after doing skills

The ball then bounces around the court

After the ball makes a direct hit with the camera

After this there will be a white screen and the real CTK logo will appear through animation

Video (Ident 4)

Student using an art canvas picking out the different colours

Starts to mix colours to create different shades of purple

Then starts to paint on canvas without audience know what he's painting

The artist the starts to paint more and more with different artistic flair.

Then the camera pans around to show the painting that the artist has been working on.

Animation is used to make it seem like the painting is melting off the page

After this the paint would have gone - the canvas will be a blank screen and the real CTK logo will appear.

Audio/Effects
Calming, mellow music, to set the mood and give a representation of the channel theme. trees and sunrise.     Also featuring early morning natural diegetic sound.
Slow motion effect would be used to give a full representation of the scenery.

Track and panning will be used to show the audience who the actually character is and give them a chance to understand their background from the mise en scene

Shallow focus will be used to focus on this carefully. Animation around them signifying that the glasses are special
(Narration starts - welcoming audience to channel)

Deep focus effect on the newspaper

Animation used on the newspaper - then there is a pan up out of shot.
Audio/Effects
Panning around dancers in position

Tracks, pans and long shots are used to capture each angle of the dance.

With the exaggeration of moves, animation is used to create a purple dust effect

Slow motion effects are used also to show dance moves in better action

The circle from above creates the christ the king logo
(Long shot from above)

Fluorescent lights move around to create the name of the logo

Animation then takes the place that the dancers were doing before

Audio/Effects
Purple basketball is used for iconography - long shots are used to capture scenery and
 him first -

The camera then follows the ball instead of the actor now

This is when it becomes animation instead of a real ball

Before the ball actually hits the camera, slow motion will be used so you can see the words on the ball

Animation will be used to create this last effect

 Audio/Effects

Narration starts in the background with natural music.

Close up shot of the pallet

Medium shot of canvas with over the shoulder should with a deep focus so you can't see the painting

Reveals the CTK logo with some animation on the painting to give it more of an interactive feeling

Task 2B - Group

Amendments to proposed final product

Amendments we could have made to the final product after talking with our client include things such as spending more time developing our initial ideas to tie in more with each other. For example adding extra connotations and iconography relating to the college, this will therefor give our audience a better understanding of the product as well as giving it more of a professional flair.
Also, we could have taken more into consideration what the client originally wanted as his idea for the ident. Although we used the main characteristics e.g. colour, we could have added more to reflect his vision as well as ours.
Secondly, we could have given our overall theme of idents a stronger bond, for example each ident tying in and acting as branches to the overall theme, this is an essential point as this is what makes each individual ident, identifiable to the key main theme.

Production Diary

Production Diary 1 - 19th April 2017
We each individually pitched our own ideas to each other in the group to pick the best one that would be the overall theme and idea, we picked Tamaira's because it had the most detail and enough reasons to back up why she was using certain representations. This was done in time for our groups set deadline so we could focus on other tasks.
After doing this we created different sub-themes underneath her initial theme to create 4 idents which tie into each other.

Production Diary 2 - 24th April 2017
Our group met with David Pearson to discus and negotiate ideas with him to find out the kind of feel for the idents he would like and for us to give an idea of would we think he would need to represent the college correctly.
For example we discussed the theme, budget, colour scheme.
The pitch could have been more detailed and technical if more time was taken out to carefully think about questions that would benefit us in the long run.

Production Diary 3 - 26th April 2017
Final pitch 5 minute pitch to David Pearson with group explaining our final idea to him and trying to persuade him to choose our idea.
I spoke about my sub - theme which was Media and made it clear how I would represent the college and also keep it relevent to the target audience as well.
We discussed the budget, to give him an idea of the type of quality that we are working with.
The rest of my group pitched there own idea which tied in with the main idea. We each made sure, that we made it clear what element made each of our idents link which was the colour purle, Christ The King's most dominant colour in their logo.

Pre Production

NIGEL - The Budget
The Budget is key to the production this will cover props lighting equipment, Transport, locations and other. the food is one of the most consistent budget payments as this will cover lunch breaks transport will have a budget and the props.

Transport: £40 to London, on site transport free oyster.
Food: £150 cover all client needs
Props: £20 maximum
Camera and Lighting Equipment: free student project.

This will be the budget costs as everything else will be free as this is a collage project and do not have access to mainstream companies to help filming such as Sky, ITV and Channel 4.

The budget will worked with a team to fill the profit equally this way it is organised and we can keep track of all of our resources we have used. locations are free as we are filming.

DANIEL - The Treatment
My idea for the 30 second ident for CTK is to promote their ethos. Their ethos is 'graces', and every letter is abbreviated. Graces is short for Grit, Respect, Assurance, Curiosity, Endeavour, and Self-Control. The way I wanted to incorporate this into an ident was by giving each letter, along with appropriate footage that matches each letter a total of 4-5 seconds.
The ident will begin by having the CTK logo appearing on the screen for literally one second only, then immediately after, the first letter, 'G, appears in big and bold writing. Then that letter will fade out, and the footage for the letter 'G' will appear and play for about 3-4 seconds on screen. So, for the letter 'G', which is for the word 'Grit', you will see footage that displays students in the college being courageous, passionate and brave. This will then apply for the remaining letters.

When the letters appear on screen, they will appear in white writing, on top of a customised purple background. I have chosen this idea because these are the two colours that makes the college recognisable.

TAMAIRA -Production Plan
Director/Editor: Nigel Chitme
Assistant Director: Tamaira Lynch
DOP/Animator: Tommy Griffin
Camera Operator: Daniel Taiwo
Assistant Camera operator: Ashley Davy

Days of production
Responsibility
What has to be done
1
Director
On the first day the director needs to explain the idea to the rest of their team, therefore the team can understand the idea fully and has an idea on which person is having which role. This is very important because if the members in the team doesn’t know the idea then they won’t be able to do their role within the team when they start to do the production. A lot of money could be decreased because of the lack of understanding of the idea, which is very bad for the business.
2
DOP/Animator
The DOP job is the producing the storyboard of the idea to show how the final piece should look. This is a guideline for the team when they are working on the piece.
3
Assistant Director
The assistant director role is to source the locations that they need for the idea and they need to see if that particular location is suitable for their idea. Also they need to gain permission to shoot on the premises that they want to shoot on and they need to create the shooting schedule.
4
Camera Operator
/Director/Assistant Director
These roles need to book out the equipment that they need to film, they also need to source the talent and they need to get the talent to sign a release form as proof that they give you’re their consent that you are allowed to film them.
5
Every Role

6

8
Editor
The editor’s role is to edit the whole footage and make it look like an ident

ASHLEY - Designs
Designs we will use will be based on the theme and the idea created by the director, as our theme is CTK Graces we will use a series of colours that represent Christ the King, which are white and purple.
Idents will also be based off of the different element of the sixth form for example, performing arts. This will tie in with the idents because the subjects contain element that will grab the attention of our target audience.
The energy behind the idents will represent the college as well as the graces, the design of them will represent passion, bravery and courageousness which was spoken about in the initial idea of the idents.
The style of ident we will be using is 3D animation and recorded footage as it will give the college more of a professional and stylistic look which will appeal to our primary audience as well as a secondary audience (parents of the students).

Potential problems with each (health and safety issues; budget; production practicalities; practical skills, resources etc)

The first and main problem we may face is the the way we will have to manage our time especially because we are producing a stop motion ident. the way we are going to make sure that this doesn't make it a problem by setting out a clear and organized shooting schedule within deadlines on when each ident will be shot and edited .

the second problem we may face is with our location, our location is based is the school because we want the viewers to see what they are buying into or in this case signing up for. the location will be full of students going to and from their lesson and trying to to film in tight corridors with people going up and down it can bcome a health and safely problems but we have set out to shoot while most people are in their lessons and not much is going on so that you can capture a few students.
